Wallpaper Prints for Prada

Prada's 1920's-ish wallpaper-print dresses remind me of the textile prints William Morris designed during the Arts and Crafts Movement. The prints are beautiful and the colors seem like they could work for fall too. I'd wear one of these dresses in a heartbeat!

On the Streets: Glitz at Glamorama

I had the opportunity to go to Macy's Glamorama in Chicago. As I was heading upstairs I saw these two lovely ladies in the best gowns.

Book It: The Marchesa Casati: Portraits of a Muse

One of my favorite fashion inspirations is Marchesa Luisa Casati. A woman years ahead of her time, wearing snakes as accessories and walking wild cats long before Britney Spears. She was photographed by great photographers like Man Ray and Cecil Beaton and dressed by Poiret. I have been waiting to read her biography Infinite Variety: The Life and Legend of the Marchesa Casati as soon as it comes in the mail. But, I am even more excited for the her visual biography The Marchesa Casati: Portraits of a Muse slated to come out in October. I have a feeling my eye makeup will
become darker and my hair crazier..cant wait!

Want it!

I'm so excited to have stumbled upon Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture. This book showcases Louis Vuitton's collaborations with artists, architects, designers, and photographers, such as Jun Aoki, Olafur Eliasson, Zaha Hadid, David LaChapelle, Annie Leibovitz, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Stephen Sprouse, James Turrell and Vinoodh Matadin. I'm particularly excited about the collaboration with Olafur Eliasson because I just saw his show at the MCA and it was amazing! The book also includes essays that examine the influence Artistic Director Marc Jacobs has had on the brand over some of its most important years.

Matthew Williamson Winter 09/10

Matthew Williamson has some amazing pieces in his Winter 09/10 collection. The beading is brilliant! It makes me want to make some jewelry or something. Ashley will love it.

Jeanie reminded me how much I <3 Kate ads

Yesterday a friend sent me a pic of the black balloon ad and said it reminded her of me. Now I can't stop looking at these ads. I almost forgot how cute Kate Spade ads are. Thanks Jeanie :)

Designer Watch: Wren Clothing

I'm officially in love with Wren, an up and coming label founded by designer Melissa Cocker who's creations embody a sense of perfect imperfection. Not only do I love the clothing, but the design of the website, photography and styling blow me away.

If You Like the 60's, Geekin Out and Radical Fashion...

I'm so geeking out on this book I just read an article about in the New Zealand Fashion Quarter. It's a book written by
author Jane Pavitt about how the Cold War period influenced fashion, ranging from innovations in materials to the cybernetic visions of the 1960s, from the bikini to the spacesuit, vinyl radiation suits to high-tech jewelry. It also explores how the image of the body was shaped by Cold War concerns, the space race, technological developments and the first forays into hyper-reality. Ashley and I will be ordering this book right away!
